Wireless Information and Power Transfer: A Bottom-Up Multi-Layer Design Framework

The efficiency of wireless information and power transfer (WIPT) systems requires an essential reevaluation rethinking the entire transceiver chain, which is characterized by a bottom-up multi-layer design approach. In this article, we introduce describe key layers: “Mathematical modeling,” associated with investigation mathematical models for process, “Information-theoretic limits,” refers to fundamental limits WIPT channel, “Link design,” corresponding signal processing techniques that make feasible, “System-level perspective,” studies developed from macroscopic system-level point-of-view, “Experimental studies,” real-world implementation systems. These layers are well-connected their interplay imperative effective Specific case discussed, demonstrates interdisciplinary nature aforementioned framework.
